I haven't heard of Paranoia Agent. I will have to look into this.

Just watched this the other day and what a great director darren is. After seeing that I really wished he would have stayed on wolverine I would have loved to see his interpretation. Has anyone seen requiem for a dream.
I saw Requiem. That movie is f-ed up.
Actually, I believe Aronofsky licensed Perfect Blue for a aping a specific scene for Requiem for a Dream.

Black Swan is similar.. but I don't think he licensed it. Meanwhile.. not to give too much away for either.. I think they actually end up being polar opposites. At least in terms of how things end up and how things actually turn out at the end.
Though I hesitate to call it a knock off. Blind rage weeaboo anime fans have gotten their body pillows in knots claiming various US things are rip off of their precious anime. I don't want to be that anime fan. No, Inception didn't steal from another Kon film Paprika. Personally, I thought Paprika did a much better and very different job or showing the dream world and its crossing over with the waking world. Unless you want to argue Kon invented people diving into dreams, you don't have an argument there.
Then you have the Japanophile jackasses who, some still to this day, call Firefly a piece of shit because they feel it rips off Cowboy Bebop and/or Outlaw Star. As a fan of all three shows, I find these people to be total idiots.
Anyway, I highly suggest Perfect Blue for a similar yet also very different story.
