Ten's worst moment? His final episode, with mooning over all that he's losing and yelling at Wilf and being a whiny, self-absorbed pain in the ass.

I kept asking my husband if I had something wrong about the Doctor, that maybe he lost his memories or something when he transformed. But that wouldn't make sense, because obviously Ten carried forward memories of Rose from Nine. So, why all the mopey-mopey? Of course, I was still busy throwing my hands in the air at the fact that anyone that the Doctor pointing a pistol at the Master or Timothy Dalton holding the scepter of ultimate power was supposed to create suspense. Really? A HANDGUN was going to turn the tide of that argument?

RTD did a lot of things right but when he went off the rails, he really went off the rails.

So true. The big finale could have been cut by half an hour without losing anything of substance, but it's still not as bad as the Titanic in Space, which was stupid on so many levels.

Though RTD at his most self-indulgent still managed a more coherent story than Big Bang Two. Or indeed the entire plot of season 6.

Cannot disagree with you more. I lived the big bang 2 and season 6, in my opinion, was the best since the series reboot.

I hated the series four finale with a passion. The worst finale of the current Doctor Who. The Series 1 and 5 finale were probably my favorite. I, personally, have loved the Moffat run, for the most part. Though, I thought the second half of series 6 was a bit weak in parts with Let's Kill Hitler being a little drawn out, the three episodes after that being "meh". But the last two episodes were enjoyable.

But, man, I am going to miss Amy and Rory. Best companions of the new series.

I enjoyed quite a lot of the twists and turns and running about, I just have a small problem with how the story makes no sense if you think about it at all. Similarly with the rather dull über plot of season 6 which boils down to the Doctor being in a specific time and place for no reason other than because he has to be there, so he can be murdered by someone who has been trained her entire life to assassinate him except whoops she doesn't want to so she is stuck in a space suit that makes her, instead of, I don't know, someone else who actually wants to kill him, and since he's standing there waiting to be shot, I'm not sure why they felt the need to train River from birth to be an assassin anyway.

Aaaargh! It makes me so ranty!

I think it was more that his personality alters enough in each regeneration that the current version, while the memories will be retained, is gone and will not have the same emotional connection to the memories. But yeah, it seemed really uncharacteristic for Ten.

Speaking of regenerations, how great would it be if they could get 4-11 back for the 50th anniversary next year for "The Eight Doctors." I know Tom Baker especially is quite up there in years now, but he has finally been willing to reattach himself to Who in the form of new audio dramas. I'm sure 5-8 would be up for it, but Eccleston would likely be the other potential holdout.

then you should go WAY back further than Rose.

although, I would argue that you would be just FINE if you went back to the 4th Doctor, and Sarah Jane -- THAT would be an excellent place to start.

Sorry I just have to say this, I'm never felt like I enjoyed the newer Dr Who as much as I enjoyed the classic episodes, there were a few here and there that I like, but overall I liked the older episodes better, specifically the Peter Davidson years which is when I was introduced to the series, and the Tom Baker years.

I think the newer ones tend to play up the emotional drama to much, to the point of going over the top a lot. Yes, you heard that right, one of the biggest drama queens on this board thinks Dr Who has to much Drama Trauma.

To be fair though, David Tennant was a total Dr Who Fanboy so leaving the show wasn't particularly easy for him, hence the send off. Didn't stop the episode from being way way way over the top.

Skip it and go straight to leela! BEST! COMPANION! EVAR!

Btw, was going to make a poll about this but not enough poll choices. So who was your favorite Dr? I'm going to have to go with the 4th.
