he's someone they have prominence from (at least in name from the Young Justice cartoon). . and they can court the controversy (that would erupt) and say "it's not the character from the cartoon. . . this is Garth, the white Aqualad"

just seems like something they would do for the publicity.

Donna can make her appearance at some time later. I'm fine with that. Believe me: I love Donna. But I'm also ok with her being gone for a while, too.

Wait are you saying Garth, or Kaldur would be your pick? Because Garth was already killed in BN, and seeing as Johns has said he plans to use Kaldur, I doubt Garth is getting a resurrection.

And even before he died Garth had some heterosexual relationships, including a wife and kid. Aqualad too with the girlfriend he had in Brightest Day, and his attraction to Lorena.

I mean, that could certainly change, but I don't see either one being an easy fold like Guy would.

so yeah. . sounds pretty high-profile to me, and Guy fits the bill.

(then again, he does say they are "about to re-introduce". . . so who knows?

but Guy is who I thought of first -- take one of the "toughest" guys in the DCU, and make him gay)
This would actually be pretty interesting, in my opinion. You take pretty much DC's archetypal "man's man" and use him to break some of the sterotypical depictions of gay men in fiction.

    Yes, I'm saying Garth.

BN death doesn't matter. . and they specifically say it would be someone who was previously shown to be straight.

So Garth fits, even moreso that Kaldur is going to show up, and in the TV show, he loves Tula.

I think the controversy (no, we didn't make the TV character gay, it's ANOTHER Aqualad that's gay), would be something DC would find hard to resist.

I haven't heard ANYTHING. . like I"m saying, just gut feeling. Guy, or Garth.

(hehe. . and just realized, "Guy" is awful close to "Gay". . . hehehe. . maybe it WILL be Guy)?

DC has a massive back bench. It could really be anyone. If it weren't for the phrasing, Tim would be blatantly obvious, but as-is? There's really too many options, especially since any character can be big given the right push.

On a related note, I wish we'd see something other than Gay or Straight. The current acronym is Quiltbag, and other than a couple Bi chars it's all L and G. Even DCs diversity isn't that diverse.

This worked a few years ago with the character Renee Montoya who was clearly straight before Rucka wrote her in the comics. I say in the comics because Rucka wrote her straight in the novelization of No Man’s Land. There is no reason why this can't work again as long as it is done right.
