They didn't do anything for Darrell Hammond bar let him be in sketches for once.
Kind of a microcosm of the season itself. There has been a lot of brilliant stuff with some mind-numbingly bad stuff sprinkled in. Although, when you consider that they basically give themselves a week to put on the world's most important sketch show, that's a damn good season.
The send-off for Wiig was touching, and I'd say totally warranted. Love her, like her, or hate her, she's been insanely important to the show for just about her entire time there. Moreso than anyone else who might (or might not) be leaving this summer. I think it also sets a neat precedent and would like to see more of this in the future (also, retroactively...did they do anything for Poehler in her last show? She all but carried the whole thing by herself for her last two seasons). It might suck some of the glamor from the finale's host, but the finale always tends to be such a clusterfuck of cameos in recent years that I don't know it takes any shine off that wasn't already off.
But yeah, solid episode to cap off the best season since Tina Fey left.
Funnybook of the Week - I read 'em, I rank 'em. Based on nothing more than my personal enjoyment.

For Poehler on her last Weekend Update a bunch of the cast sang "Mandy" to her but with Mandy changed to Amy. It wasn't a season-ending send off like Wiig's but it was cute and sweet. I seem to remember it being mid-season as she had stayed on past the last election.Originally Posted by SidekicksRevenge
Similarly I think Sudeikis is staying on until at least past the election since he's their Romney. I hope Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam get a chance to step up next season. Nasim and Abby too with the voids left by Wiig and Samberg.
Taran Killam will be the next Bill Hader tbh. I crack up whenever he's on screen.
