I think maybe that's why so many people were angered by the ending of the show. It set the bar so high that anything but a perfect ending opened it up to criticism.
I thoroughly enjoyed the series it's characters it's clever telling of their backstories it's attempt to bring larger concepts to tv that usually don't exist. People can criticize but find me another show like lost that was anywhere near as good. Granted I don't think there really is another show that fits that criteria.

I loved, and I mean loved that show and own all the seasons,
I remember going crazy with the last episode of season one when Jin, Micheal and Sawyer encountered the others on the boat. I think I watched that scene like 50 times in the summer months just hoping that Sawyer would get a second more to draw his gun faster. And, let's not even mention the ending with the hatch. I miss this type of show where I would get into debates and arguments with family and friends about what was really happening.
And the finale, well when it first aired, it had been less than a year since my mom had died from a very sudden heart attack in my arms and let's just say that the finale 15 minutes made me cry so much I think I was dehydrated by the end
And yeah, I'll admit, Sawyer was in many of my little fantasies.
Oh, and while I don't want to derail this thread but I think it would be neat if the fans here would say what where your theories about what was happening on the island. Mine involved aliens and Cthulhu like worships

I still miss this show to this day. I can't say anything bad about it. I thought it was perfect. I loved the ending.
I also agree with the John Locke love, he was such a wonderful character.
This morning I sat next to a lady was watching LOST on her cell phone.
"Sh - no - brick"
Wonderful.... yet so damn tragic!
Con artist dad who pretends to care just so he can steal his kidney? Then that fucker pushes him out a window to kill him, but instead it leaves him crippled. Psycho mom? Loses a woman who loves him because he was obsessed with finding his asshole dad. Thought he was a Chosen One, only to find it THAT was also a con and ended up with him getting killed by a guy who was pretending to support him?!?!?
And then his likeness was used by a smoke monster!
I kept waiting for the guy to catch a break. And the only break he really got was dying.
John Locke and Hugo were the two people I truly rooted for. And the only reward John got for all his suffering was a good afterlife.
Sayid, Sun & Jin, Locke, Sawyer, Hurley... all such great characters. I loved that show, and will probably revisit it in a couple more years.
