I just want to say, I liked the ending of Lost. Was it perfect? No, but I still enjoyed it. It answered enough of my questions that I was satisfied.
I know on the internet it is common to bitch and I know there are a lot of people who disliked lost as much as if not more then they loved it. Im asking that this thread have only positive comments in it. I started rewatching the series Sunday and am on Sawyer's second flashback. Actually I just finished the episode. It has the build up to maybe one of the most touching scenes on the show let alone tv in general. It shows Sawyer meeting Jacks dad in the bar and ends with Sawyer figureing out that he met Jacks dad and has crucial information that he could depart should he choose to. He does at the end of the season in a scene that nearly brought me to tears the first time I watched it. The show will be mimiked for years to come but it is the first of its kind and everything that has come since has failed misserably. Though OUAT is proving to be the exception to that rule.
Hate me all you want, 95 % of the time I'm write.

LOST was "appointment television" for me. No DVR and watching later, I had to watch it live.
And I loved every bit of it.
Like I said Im rewatching it now and there are just so many great moments. Kates it belonged to the man I loved it belonged to the man I loved It belonged to the man I killed was another one that tore me up. Michael and Jinn at the end of season one when the writers turned them into Han and Chewy. No this one goes here that one goes there. Priceless

"Lost" was the only show that made me cry on a regular basis. I don't care who knows it. There were so many cry-worthy moments.
And I thought the ending was awesome, personally.
It's interesting, because I was going to start watching it again, too.
I liked Claire and Kate.
I have nothing bad to say about it because I never really got to watching it.
When it came out, I didn't start watcing it. When TV talk became nothing but talking about the show, I figured I would just wait until season one came out on DVD and catch up then. I very rarely start waching a show in the middle hoping to catch up.
But other things happened, and I have honestly not watched a single episode of it. Ever.
So I'm using this thread to get your impression of the show to determine whether it's worth the commitment to watch it all on DVD.
I think the problem with a show like Lost is that there is a large portion of it's audience that wants to be amazed each week by some cliffhanger surprise or big revelation and they stop caring about the characters. I thought the series finale was great and really emphasized the bonds the characters built on the island and the obstacles they overcame to be at peace.
It's also that rare show that realized it was going nowhere pretty quickly and righted itself right away. Even the season (2 I think?) where you got the impression they didn't know what they were doing was great but once they committed to a specific number of seasons early on, the show really started to roll.
Finally, the 4th episode was one of the greatest moments I've ever seen on TV.
It had so many great human moments. So many that made you cheer, or cry, or get angry.... There was something likeable in even the worst of them and something despicable in most of the lead characters.
Except for two, Hugo and John. I was happy for Hugo at the end. However, I have NEVER felt as bad for a fictional character as I did for John Locke.
Also, I feel Lost was truly ground-breaking television.
