Thread: May 16th 2012 Comics

Whoops... I left off Birds of Prey. I can't say it made much of an impression on me, though, as a pretty generic Court of Owls crossover. I recently reread the entire series, and it doesn't hold together as well as I'd assumed it had. This'll be my last issue for a while.

I dropped BOP a while ago, Rod. They are just too inconsistent, among other flaws I find with the series.
My first novel is up Amazon Kindle at http://www.amazon.com/In-My-Brothers...8184334&sr=1-1

    And now in paperback, too!

Issues of Daredevil with Pham on art are just disappointing. It's not that he's bad, just that the other artists are sooo good.

I guess this was the last issue of Thunderbolts before it becomes Dark Avengers. I thought it was a really good wrap up, and while I know nothing about these Dark Avengers, I trust Jeff Parker to turn out an enjoyable comic. I didn't know anything about the Thunderbolts before he took over either.

I still have a bunch more comics before I can allow myself to read Saga. *sigh*

Yeah, I felt like there was going to be a payoff, and so far there hasn't been... and considering #8 continued without any mention of #7's cliffhanger (that the man Katana killed wasn't Choke after all), and #9 didn't advance either that or Canary's supposed murder, and that the next issue leads into a multi-part South American storyline... well, I'm not sure if I'm every going to get answers to basic things like how on earth Starling's broken hand healed, etc. One at a time, the books were fun, fine action -- some great set-pieces, like the mission on the train. But all at once (I reread the run on Monday & Tuesday) -- they just didn't add up to much. Really frustrating, but at least I know how I'm going to afford Dial H.

Oh: one more comic this week: Insufferable #3, on Thrillbent (and free!). I'm really enjoying this series, and liked the look at Galahad's private life we got this issue. Although this issue has the first of the computer-comic effects that really didn't work for me, with the seen of Galahad lying in bed. I'm not sure what they were trying to convey there, other than the passage of time, and it seemed a little awkward to me. But I'm glad they're trying new things with the page transitions!
