I can't help wonder if any of this is tied into Romney winning the Republican nomination.....

Speaking again from the mormon perspective... Romney is a liar and a bully and I hope he gets what he deserves in this life, which is definitely NOT the presidency. Frankly, I hope he loses his fortune to the people he's screwed over and stepped on on his climb to power.

I could go on, but I'm making myself angry, and Romney isn't worth that much of my emotional spectrum.

I doubt it; regardless of your views on this issue, it's been going on for a while and has been "uncovered" numerous times.

I watch MSNBC regularly, and I haven't heard anyone "trashing" Mormonism. I have heard, however, people bringing up problems they have with it. But that's not trashing, IMO.

I've seen a couple of instances of it. It bothers me when they haven't done research, but some of the complaints are very valid and exactly the same issues I have with the organization that is the LDS church. It doesn't help that Romney isn't exactly a good representative of his religion... just like most other politicians.

Ah, so it's a way to get around God being a dick. That makes sense.

Most of the faiths that I'm aware of (which is far from a majority even of Christendom) assume that God just gives people a pass if they missed their opportunity to be saved.
