I read the first two series back in the 80s because I girl I had a crush on had read them. Depressing, but well written and a really thought out world. I've read the first two books of the latest series and still have to read the third.

And y'know what? Looking back on it, I'd NEVER read those books again!

The most emo things I read as a teenager were probably Sweep the Leg Johnny lyrics sheets.

Every tax-paying citizen deserves the right to marry the person they love. Americans who vote to deny other Americans a right they themselves enjoy should have that right taken away from them.
I got the box set of the first three books in paperback as a gift when I was in high school. I read probably the first book and a half before setting it down. I realized the lead character just grated on me so much that every time I picked it up felt like a chore, so eventually I just moved on to something else.
I could only get partway through the first book.
I think my prob was that I liked the supporting cast, but HATED Thomas Covenant. ESPECIALLY after how he treats the girl who finds him in The Land.
I liked the fantasy world he created and a lot of the characters, but hated and loathed the protagonist.
People say I'm in a world of my own. I call it Planet Karen.
My thoughts exactly.
Phoenix Legacy is a wonderfully entertaining rollercoaster read that conjures up the fantastical worlds explored in comic books yet provides a romance between unconventional characters.--review of Phoenix Legacy at Night Owl Reviews.
