I liked Azkaban - the begining scared the snot right outta me. But I really loved the last two films. I felt they went all out in those ones - fx/acting wise. I balled my eyes out when Harry realized what had to be done.

Can I say I dislike his Harry Potter movies the most?
I found them to be poorly directed, saved by the source material and some of the performances.
I've never been fond of Chris Columbus as a director. Looking at his filmography on IMDB, I realize that the only movie of his I really like is his first, Adventures in Babysitting. It's all been downhill from there.

Hmm. Well it's been a while since I read them, so maybe I'm projecting more depth and interesting story-telling than was actually there. But I seem to remember thinking that Rowling could hold my interest and tell a story I wanted to read.
OTOH, I had already seen the first two movies when I read them, so there's that. Maybe the fact that I enjoyed the films effected how I saw the books.
It's like with "Hunger Games." Even though I hadn't (and still haven't) seen the film when I read it, I couldn't help but imagine Katniss as Jennifer Lawrence, with Jennifer Lawrence's voice, etc.
Ah, yeah, never having read the book, I couldn't compare them. But that makes a lot of sense. Because it really was forgettable.
