-- First, I want to address some of the things you said.
-- I agree with most of your "victories" ideas. I haven't read "Batgirl," so can't comment. But everything else I agree with. As to Jason, though, he really was a lot of fun as a psychopath, though.
As to the ones you consider "blunders," my agreement with is far more mixed.
-- I honestly thought the whole Starfire thing was blown SO far out of proportion that it was absurd. Was it necessarily well-handled in the SINGLE issue? No. Was it something that people should have treated like the Fall of Constantinople? No.
-- I completely disagree that Superboy is a thoughtless sociopath. He's extremely confused, and he has little experience dealing with humans which he knows are "real." But he's definitely not a sociopath. I think that, if nothing else, the "Teen Titans Annual" proved that.
-- PG? Well, I always loved her old outfit. But I don't hate the new one, either. And, more importantly, "World's Finest #1" was wonderful, and her character is just great, along with her banter between herself and Helena.
Now, onto the things that I really have enjoyed:
-- First and foremost, "Wonder Woman" is not only readable again, but it's arguably the best book out there. I could easily write an entire thread about how fantastically Azzarello and Chiang have done so far, but what's the point? It just won a poll as best book of the Nu52 over at CBR. I think that says something. It's beautiful to look at, it is wonderful to read, and they are putting so much into it, creating so many different, complicated situations that it's gorgeous. I just HATE the fact that it only comes out once a month!
-- "Supergirl" is finally readable again, as well. I don't care what anyone said, I really disliked the last couple of runs on the book. This one? It's delicious. Kara's experiences in the first number of issues are just great. And that last one? Oh man! Asrar's art? Are. You. Kidding. Me?! Wow.
-- I had never even heard of "Voodoo" as a character. Now her book is one of the most fun and interesting each month. Great art by Sami Basri (continuing from his run on PG), and fantastic writing that always creates tension. This book REALLY kicks ass.
-- The "Justice League" and "Justice League Dark" books. They are exceptionally different from one and other, but have similarities too. But adore both. Which brings us to ...
-- "Swamp Thing" and "Animal Man." I think that if you consider these books tied together, which they are, that there is nothing EVEN FUCKING CLOSE to what they are doing right now. Just take a look at the art and panel construction in the last "Swamp Thing," or try and find ONE. SINGLE. CHARACTER as cool as Maxine in "Animal Man." This is absolutely, of the charts brilliant stuff. The writing, the art, the ideas -- it never gets any better than this.
-- Finally, a book I NEVER would have tried in a million years if it hadn't been a #1 in the Nu52: "I,Vampire." Wow. This book rocks my socks every single month. The art and writing are spectacular, the characters are completely engaging, the story is compelling. This is exactly what a comic should be, even though I almost always am drawn to super-hero comics. I can't believe how good this is.
