Hamster, when did I say our site shed sponsors? If I did, that was a mis-speak and I apologize. The only sponsor we ever had was In Stock Trades/DCBS which was a sponsor until about three or four years ago. The site has been self-sufficient for most of it's life which is why it's always had more of a hobby feel to it.

As far as Kelly and Dante, we all discussed whether or not we should proceed with it before taking any action. But Kelly more than anyone said it's time to confront him and be done with him.

Mac, I offered sending the maps back to Matt. He said he appreciated the gesture but said there was little he could do with just two. He said to keep them as a thank you for what we did with the podcast. But Dante and I want to do what we can with them, so that's why we're not keeping them. I'm open to any charity to receive the funds. The humane society is one that's close to me, and I discussed it with Matt. He was all for it. And unlike Rick, I'm happy to share that email exchange, as it was the first thing I asked permission from Matt when we started talking. If he had named a charity that he prefers, I would absolutely send the money to that one. To me, Matt's wishes take priority to anything else in regards to the maps. He created them, he gets to decide what to do with them.

The charity I was thinking of is listed here: http://stevens-swan.org/

I also only consider them because with just two maps, I really don't forsee a huge withfall for whatever charity we give it to. It's not like we'll get thousands of dollars for them. I'm thinking $1.00 per ticket, $10.00 for 15 tickets, and $20.00 for 25 tickets. And at both locations I'll be putting in $20.00 for 25 tickets in Mike Malott's name. Anyone who knows him, please don't let him know yet because I want it to be a surprise if he wins. This is the only place I've announced it openly, because he doesn't check here regularly.

I'll be also taking Internet tickets, so it can be more than just local to win. If you send an amount to me via PayPal, I'll put the money in the pot and put the tickets in the drawing.

And also unlike Rick, I'm not afraid to provide FULL ACCOUNTABILITY for every dollar someone donates.

All of the full details will be on my Facebook page and in the podcast we're recording tomorrow night, so it'll be up on Friday.

Wouldn't you make a lot more money by putting them on e-bay and publicizing the auctions on the appropriate message boards?

I thought about that, too. I've never sold anything on eBay, so I don't really have a clear idea what is involved in the process. But when I suggested it someone said it was more hassle than it was worth. Can anyone clear up my confusion on the process? The upside is it gives more people the chance to bid on it. The downside is there's been so much negative P.R. about the maps that someone may mistake it for Rick trying to sell off his. That's what happened to a friend of mine. He was mistaken for Rick online and it almost ruined his Internet-based business.

Also, I got an email today suggesting donating the money to The Hero Initiative. Any thoughts on that? It seems an easy process to donate through PayPal.

I'm willing to do what's best for giving to a deserving charity, be it on a local or national level.

On the subjects of the maps, Matthew Hawes made this remark over at the Comments section of About Heroes:

“The maps he gave us were numbered 28 and 29 of 255. If he’s sold whatever amount he’s claiming this week to have sold, how is he dispersing them?”

The original print run of the maps was 250. It increased to 255 to allow 5 maps to be given to LucasFilm for their archives. One can assume they have maps numbered #251-255. Matt Busch stated he sold 27 maps prior to giving the remaining 223 maps to Rick. If the maps given to Jeff Hartz are numbered #28 & #29 it stands to reason Rick has sold no maps at all despite his claims in the past of selling at least 10. This could be incorrect but the numbers seem to add up.
To which Rick tried to sling this bullshit:

Never assume anything. Maps #1-10 are gone. Maps #28 &#29 were ‘gifted’ by me to Artful and Dante. What that means is that I shall be paying the money into the charity selected for them regardless whether they return the maps to Matt Busch or not.

Maps #30 & #31 are also spoken for. To date, I have had a number of inquiries outside of the USA requesting a sale. Regarding that, I am keeping a list of those individuals in case I decide at a later date to re-contact those involved and offer/complete a sale.

Not sure where you went to Elementary school, but the above still doesn’t give a full accounting…so trying to play this game of one step ahead of the facts will simply cause you to be passing around MORE erroneous information. Which, obviously, you believe is better than the truthful facts.
My opinion is Rick is using any money he might have received from any sold maps to finance the fencing project he's been getting quotes on. He told us he's trying to fence off the wooded area up in Woodgate, NY and section parts of it off so that when he "succumbs" his kids won't fight over which parcel belongs to which kid. He whined about how when his dad passed away there were cousins of his that cheated him on part of the whole property and sold some of what should have been his out from under him. So he wants to make sure the property, which by the way is in Barbara's name, doesn't cause any breach of the peace among the offspring.

My other favorite part of his whining on the ride home is when he complained that he went out and bought enough of the shipping tubes (like the one he shows in the video taking the maps out of) for all the posters because he "thought they were going to sell out fast", and now he has them all over the house. So, why is he raising the price on something he says no one will buy at the current price again?

And then ten minutes later complained that he didn't even know how many maps Matt sent him, because he never bothered to count them. Then how did he know how many tubes to buy??

    A) Paypal are VERY strict about using their service for charitable causes. Etsy had a huge problem because of this fairly recently, and I imagine numerous small deposits would also trigger their system here.

    B) I cannot influence you or what you do with the maps, but I'm already skeptical of your neutrality here. You'll be holding the raffle and picking the two winners. But you then say you're buying tickets yourself for Mike Mallott.

That sounds dodgy, even if it's not, and that's only going to create even more problems.

You're forgetting something: The agreement with Lucasfilm is that the proceeds go to a veteran's charity. I think they tend to be sticklers about their agreements and contracts. Just to be safe, you really need to give the money to a veterans' group, especially since that is what it says on the posters themselves.

Okay, turns out I don't have mod powers so I can't close the thread. But I would like it closed immediately.

Everything's been said here that needs to be said. Please take it up elsewhere if you must. Thank you.
