What long running events or TV shows that you loved as a kid aren't around any more?

I was a huge fan of British wrestling which ran on ITV from 1955 to 1988. There is obviously still British wrestling but it doesn't appear on a major TV channel on a Saturday afternoon any more.

In the 1970s the show peaked at an average of 18m viewers and wrestlers like Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks, who featured in WCW as Loch Ness and Kendo Nagasaki were household names throughout the country. Huge stars such as Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith - the British Bulldogs, Chris Adams, William Regal, Kamala known as the Missisippi Mauler here, Fit Finlay, Akira Maeda - known as Kwik Kick Lee here, Satoru Sayama - known as Sammy Lee here but would become the original Tiger Mask and Mark 'Rollerball' Rocco - the original nemesis of Tiger Mask known as Black Tiger all made appearances in British wrestling that would launch them into international stardom.

I don't think the US has any long-running TV shows like that.

Okay, Sesame Street? Mister Rogers? Sesame is still around.

It isn't the same watching a 25 year old fuzzy replay of something as it is watching it on first broadcast.

In my experience, shows from something like ten or fifteen years ago actually look better on the computer than they ever did on television, what with tv sets back then not being so brilliant.

On the other hand, I assume nostalgia makes everythign look better in retrospect. Like Thundercats. I mean, the art is still pretty cool, but it's nowhere near as brilliant as I remember it :3

Going to second The Bozo Show.

Most of those regional shows are gone, it seems.
