How different would comics be today if.....?

Ok, let's keep this to comics alone, but say that humanity had evolved and grown in such a way that women were the dominant sex in today's world. They held the power, the influence, etc.

So, comics would not be geared towards men/boys from ages 15 to say 35, but to women.

How different would comics be today?

They'd probably the the same, or similar enough as makes no difference. If women were the "dominant" sex then that means at some point they were the hunters, the war-leaders, etc., so there would have been the same glorification of violence. The same "be strong" cultural indoctrination.

I think there'd be the same objectification and same power fantasy, just directed towards the opposite gender and matching whatever specific ideals of beauty have arisen in this alternate world

Yes. Well, probably not that exact story, but I mean that it'd still be full of gory violence because that's what the audience would be expected to like, and men would be in skimpy clothing that highlighted their primary sexual characteristics, and there'd be people trying to desperate to work in more realistic and balanced portrayals, but they'd have a hard time getting there because "everyone knows" that men don't read comics, and women only read comics if they can fantasize about the men and dream about being the kick-ass star.

And, actually, Batwoman did see her mom gunned down (Well, she didn't really "see" it since she had a bag on her head, but she heard it).

I think things like romance comics would be more viable in today's market and superheroes would not necessarily be the dominant genre in American comics, but all in all, I don't think things would be all that different.

It kinda defeats the point if you assume it would be exactly the same but gender swapped. It also assumes that women in positions of power would behave exactly the same as men have, and all the available evidence suggests that would not be the case.

Also, women aren't generally quite as obsessed with visuals of people they might be attracted to, so while there would likely be some eye candy, it wouldn't be so overwhelming. ie. not every guy would be dressed like Namor.
