I was gonna come in to recommend any ASUS laptop. I love ASUS as a brand. They have never failed me.
So my desktop is about to shit the bed. I have replaced the hard drive, the video card, the ethernet adapter, and the power supply, but I think the motherboard is finally about to kick it.
I need to be able to effectively run autoCAD as well as sketchup and photoshop for work. I'll need a decent amount of RAM and a decent video card as well. Does anyone have any recommendations for a quality laptop? I saw an ASUS at best buy that had some impressive specs, but 1200 seemed a bit steep. Since my autoCAD is PC only, that eliminates any Macbooks from competition.
Thanks.

I don't have any experience with Asus notebooks, but I like their motherboard.
I like the HP Probook and Elitebook lineups
I use a Lenovo Thinkpad E520
Just bought my wife a new laptop on Thursday. The best deals I have found are at Circuit City. Also, coupons out there for $20 off and free shipping on top of the $80 rebate and instant $200 off.
Intel i5, 8gb RAM, 640g HD and Blue Ray player - $500 - Samsung
If you can wait a few months, Apple should be releasing new Macbook Pros in May/June. This could drive the prices down for all competing laptops, so you may be able to find really good deals.

I don't use it as much anymore since I sit on a computer all day at work, but I LOVE my Macbook.

I also have an Asus, hasn't let me down so far.
IMHO Apple make the best laptops these days and with Boot Camp the run windows just fine. Not the cheapest option (more so when you add the cost of a windows license) but it's a good one if your looking for a quality solution
