According to the Avatar wiki, she's dead by Korra's time.

Apparently it's cause of memorial day. Lame excuse, but there'll be one next week. I felt like something was lost with no new episode yesterday, especially after the crazy ass one last week.

What makes you say that? It's certainly possible, but I can't recall anything that would actually point in that direction.

Other than her last name, there's nothing to indicate it.

The fact that she's has Toph's last name and during the events of The Promise trades she is running a metalbending school and most of the students seem to be children.

It would seem just as plausible to me that she adopted a talented orphan as having a child out of wedlock and not naming the father. That would be kind of a bold move for a Nickelodeon cartoon.

Makes a lot of sense to me. Toph doesn't really seem to be interested in well... Anyone, really. So it makes sense she'd just adopt metalbender kids.
