There's no consistency to his rulings at all. I think they need to make his job a 3 person council to balance this out. Weber here nothing and Torres get 25 games. It's whacked

It's not much at all when you consider that he's a notorious repeat offender, and that he actually should have been suspended even more times in recent years (Seabrook hit, Pacioretty hit, to name a few).

Agreed...Torres' suspension seems based on not just the recent cheap shot but the past few as a whole. And I think Shanahan is really trying to send a message at this point.

Also, if the Flyer don't win tomorrow I may just lose my shit.

The inconsistency is what makes their discipline a joke. Star players can target the head seemingly at will with very little or no action from the NHL. You send no message because the low-level guys expect to get shit on no matter what they do so they won't change. And the stars know they will get away with the same plays.

Yes, Torres' deserved suspension is based on his history. You know, for all those suspended guys who claim their hits were actcidental or they didn't mean it, it was a hockey hit in the heat of the moment, ect, well, look at Cooke - he completely cleaned up his act. These cheap shot guys could easily stop doing these hits like Cooke has done if they wanted to. A few more 25 game suspensions and they might start.

Also, Flyers had better win game 6 because they will NOT win game 7.

Exactly. This league has no consistency whatsoever. 25 games? That's a joke. I'm surprised they didn't suspend him for eleventy billion games.

I'm actually softening my stance on the Torres suspension after watching Shanahan's video on NHL.com and the "highlight" reel of Torres cheap shots at the end.

There still needs to be more consistency, but Torres had it coming.

Look, I'm not saying it wasn't a cheap shot. It was, and I'm no fan of the guy. But 10 games is throwing the book at a player. 15, even. 25 is ludicrous. If his team makes the finals, he doesn't get to play for the cup over a month after what he did? I think that's insane.
