Here's the problem with that. Of this country, 51% are women. 18% are minority races. 10% are homosexuals. 21% are non-christian. The het, cis, white, christian male "Base" is 28.5% of the population. How the heck do they expect to win with just that?

Easy and often. The population demographic you listed is not a representative sample of the people who vote especially in Wisconsin. The reason why certain neighborhoods look like a third world warzone is because the majority of the adult population are either barred or chose not to vote and people whose voting block is much larger than their populational numbers is the same reason why people over 65 get a free monthly check, healthcare and all kinds of discounts. I don't like it but that 28.5 percent you mentioned is going to be a fuck lot higher on election days and those other numbers will be a whole lot lower and Walker can still win this thing because as an ellected offical he knows that no matter how often and loud you may bitch if you don't vote you don't count.

I think the opposite is happening. He knows there is no way in hell liberals, independents and moderates are going to vote for him so he's going for the mythical conservative basis and Christian Right. I want to say he has no chance but this is the same party that chose Trent Lot to represent them after they threw him out for being a racist.
