I think he's trying to get himself kicked out of office. If he's going to be recalled, he's going to fuck up as much shit as possible

I think the opposite is happening. He knows there is no way in hell liberals, independents and moderates are going to vote for him so he's going for the mythical conservative basis and Christian Right. I want to say he has no chance but this is the same party that chose Trent Lot to represent them after they threw him out for being a racist.

Here's the problem with that. Of this country, 51% are women. 18% are minority races. 10% are homosexuals. 21% are non-christian. The het, cis, white, christian male "Base" is 28.5% of the population. How the heck do they expect to win with just that?

They don't need the Christians, they need the fundamental Christians, which makes the base even smaller.

That said, the GOP has been quite good at making people vote against their own interests for a while now.

Ever read Upton SInclair's "The Jungle"? Kind of like that....
Awesome! Now we can also replicate he maquiladora system of Mexico like they have in Juarez where women are paid much less than men, a disproportionate number of men are unemployed, and Juarez has a huge epidemic of women being abducted and murdered on their way home from work because of misdirected resentment and the free flow of drugs into the area! After several years of that, we can then lose complete control of Wisconsin to drug cartel violence! Scott Walker is a visionary!!

All of this is backfiring for the GOP though. Obama currently has an 18% lead among women, even larger in several key swing states. On the other hand, Romney enjoys a robust 1% lead among men nationwide. By comparison, Obama's lead among women in 2008 compared to McCain, who has called these attacks on women ridiculous, was 12%. Additionally, unemployment is still dropping.

They figure that the base will come out in force during the elections--or, more likely to vote. I mean, it's worked before with voter turnout.

Except the last time, they didn't piss off 51 percent of the eligible voters to get the base out, just that approximately 10 percent of homosexuals.

Now, women aren't a monolithic base, that's very true. but if the Republicans start attacking their pocketbooks AND basic freedoms, that is going to unite women FAST. After all, it was a woman from a backwoods rural area, a coal miner's daughter--traditionally a Republican--who went out and wrote "The Pill."

Which I think should really be played at many Democratic rallies this year.
