They're coming here, too.

hmmm. . . .
of COURSE I'll go, it's KISS.
I'm discouraged to see no mention at all in any of the articles I've read about the new KISS album, "Monster". . which is what I would assume they would be touring behind. . . .
I do hope that doesn't mean it's gonna get pushed out of May (where it was already pushed to for release).
I LOVED Motley when I was younger, and still listen to "Shout at the Devil" -- an almost perfect album, but man, they really tapered off as they went on (I personally thought the only good song on "Girls Girls Girls" was "Wild-Side". .and I HATED "Dr. Feelgood").
and they really aren't great live anymore, since Vince can't hit the notes, or is in shape enough to even sing the entire song. . . . his schtick these days is to pretty much sing every other word (waving the mike out towards the crowd *very* often).
anyways, as I said. . of COURSE I'll go.
Too bad Gene (and to a lesser degree Paul, Nikki and Tommy) kinda overshadowed the tour announcement by dissing Rhianna, Gaga, Madonna (those are the three Gene's been after for a while). And while Gene DOES have a point -- his point being that KISS & Motley, love em or hate em, they DO play and sing live. No backing tapes -- it's been overshadowed by the Rhianna, Gaga, and Madonna fans who are missing his point.

but like I said. . I'll see em
2 Texas dates, I'll likely do both Houston & Dallas.

I've seen Kiss four times and Motley Crue twice.
I'm just too old and the kind of drugs I do these days don't really lend themselves to a "good time" at a concert.
Mainly, if it were one or the other I'd probably go, but the two together would just be way too long for me.

Yeah, as a KISS hater and Madonna fanatic, I don't think his comment was so bad.
I think Gene actually respects Madonna. I remember a quote where he said she's the only woman who matters in terms of live performance. I'm sure he appreciates the scale of her shows, backing tapes or not.

Shout At The Devil is still one of my fave hard rock albums of all time. I listen to it often.
That said, it's the ONLY Motley Crue album I routinely listen too. Yeah, Wild Side kicks ass and there's one or two I'll listen to off of Theater Of Pain, but the rest? Nope. The SONG Dr. Feelgood starts out awesome, then just swirls down the bowl. And the rest of the album is worse, IMO.
Frankly, I feel SatD is the only album they really made an effort on. And Vince's vocals now just grate on my nerves.
As to being outspoken, Gene has always been my fave member of KISS, but sometimes I wish he'd just shut up. I know as one of the front men for te band he feels the need to draw attention to himself and the band, but.... SHEESH! I once watched an interview with him where he felt the need to have a stripped on each knee. Really Gene?
I was pretty keen on the idea of the bands touring together. I have never seen either of them live. Then I remembered what the likely price of tickets is going to be and decided I'll likely never see them live.
believe it or not, "standard" tickets to KISS shows are always very reasonable (in the $45 range).
it's when you start going for the close in seats, or the "platinum" packages -- that inclulde meet/greet with the band that the ticket prices skyrocket from the $250-$900 range.
I fully expect tix for this show -- for "standard" seats, to be in the $65-$85 range. . and that's a reasonable ticket price to me.

Yeah, very reasonable. I don't like the venue, personally; but it really is about the only place they could play here.
Pretty much everything else would be too small.
The biggest problem is it's on a Monday, so Tom doesn't want to go now either.
I'd have to spend the day alone in the city while he worked, then go to the show; get home around 2:30 am , for him to get back up at 5 to drive back to the city for work.
He says he's too old for that.![]()
