OMG! I just realized what Big Bang Theory reminds me of!

HA! OK, if this has been talked about by a million people before, forgive me. I don't watch or read about sit-coms. I just got into BBT a few months ago, through reruns on TBS. And if this offends fans of the show, then please also forgive me.

But for the past week or so I have been watching the show and thinking, "This really reminds me of something, but I just can't place it." I just trumped it up to most sit-coms being formulaic (even though I don't watch them -- I'm an asshole that way). Anyways, I was flipping around IMDB tonight, looking up Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss from "Criminal Minds") tonight, and it all hit me!

She played the bookstore owner's ex-wife on "Stacked," the Pamela Anderson comedy from 7 years ago.

For the 99.9% of people who never watched that show ( ), it was a sit-com about Pamela's character Skyler who, basically because the owner's brother is smitten with her, gets a job in a book store. The owner is very stuffy, the brother only has eyes for Skyler (for obvious reasons), Christopher Lloyd plays a theoretical physicist who spends all his time at the bookstore, and there's a female employee who makes coffees and initially resents Skyler's hiring.

Just like BBT, there's a very attractive females who isn't at all part of the world of the guys (and in the case of "Stacked" one female) thrust into their presence. She's coming off of a terrible relationship. She doesn't really understand them, but finds them sort of cute in how she sees them as aliens. And one of the "aliens" really has a thing for her. They are working on completely different wave-lengths.

Now, don't get me wrong: BBT is a MUCH better show than "Stacked" ever was. To be honest, though, when it was on I thought "Stacked" was pretty funny in a very formulaic, two-dimensional way. Interestingly, the most compelling character was Pamela's character, Skyler.

    And yes, I'm sober. Mostly.

Didn't even think of that -- of course, I haven't even *seen* it in ages.

But I'm watching the "Stacked" eps on YouTube, and they are really pretty funny. Even more funny than I remembered. Or, maybe, it's just late.

But nice catch on the Howard Hawks.

Nonsense. The only programme that The Big Bang Theory has any resemblence to is Star Trek. Because I'm pretty sure that Sheldon and Howard are aliens of the intergalactic type. Raj is an alien of the terrestrial type and Leonard is just a standard nerd. Penny is just kinda cute.

    Sheldon as Spock is obvious.

Penny could be Uhura, I supose. Maybe Ensign Janice Rand.

Leonard reminds me of a combo of Chalire X and Trevayne.

Howard has Kirk's libido, but not much else of his.

    That leaves Raj.

    Note, I used TOS.

You just know that if BBT WAS Star Trek, then poor Raj would be the guy who would die on the mission on his first appearance.

AH! A red shirt/security/engineering type! IN the newer series, they changed the toss off color to yellow.

Why was it that 99% of the time that the guy killed on the away mission was someone you'd never seen on the show before?

They could have at least let the guy get a few weeks on the show before feeding him to some freakish creature on Ceti Alpha 5.

Maybe they were afraid folk would get attached to him and then complain.

In TNG they certainly felt free to kill off Tasha Yar.

Mind, I remember in TOS some alien race turned a guy in a red shirt and a woman into some of of polygon. To teach Kirk a lesson, the main baddie picked up the cubs and crushed one. Then he reversed the process....

    Spoilers:
... and the sholcking thing was it was the WOMAN he had crushed/killed!
