I believe the US is at a turning point. If the Repubs gain the WH and more seats in Congress, this country will go down the path of The Handmaid's Tale. It might be slow but it's already starting. I'm so angry and so scared for the future of my daughter. We have to fight and vote and make our voices heard. This could be our last chance to really do so.

i remain concerned. None of this stuff seems an isolated incident. In fact, I think all these introductions of the bills are being orchestrated as a wedge issue, much like gay marriage.

I'd like to think they've gone too far, forgetting that women are, you know, 51 percent of the voting population and thus are the majority.

Still, stupidity combined with stubbornness and self-righteousness seems to be going pretty far. This is the governor of one of the most populated states in the nation.

So, asshats in all areas of the U.S. Unfortunately, this one is in a position of real power.

And Florida's ahead of the curve! Florida passed the ultrasound law last year - one of eighteen bills attempting to restrict abortion that were filed in the Florida legislature. It was passed the previous year as well, but vetoed by Crist. Women have to pay for the ultrasound (unless they can prove that they were raped or have a medical reason), but they aren't required to look at the screen - that is immediately next to them.

I remember when that first came up (or at least when I first became aware of it), my first thought was "Oh, please do!"

This seems weird that companies want to fire women because they DON'T want to get pregnant.

You would imagine companies WOULD want their employees to use birth control so they didn't have to pay workers who got pregnant unintentionally who were off work having kids or have to hire temps to replace them for the months they're off work.

This is what I was going to say. I am very confused.

I am sick of all this backwards nonsense lately. Makes me very glad I moved.

I'd like someone to bring forth a bill that required out of touch politicians to undergo some invasive pointless procedure. Perhaps just to make sure their head isn't shoved up their ass.
