It sort of makes sense. The conclusion of two monumentally popular superhero series. (In the case of Avengers, it sort of is the final installment of "Wave 1").

My money's on Dark Knight winning the day, but given the buzz, I may have to push them both up a slot on my prediction list.

I don't see how anything will slow Avengers at this point. But this could be a great year financially for movies. Hunger Games, Avengers, Batman and Hobbit should all clear 400 million

Hunger Games may fall just short. It's at 372 right now and on its last legs, especially with Avengers coming. Still an incredible run for a new franchise.

Toy Story 3. You doubted that too! You doubted it too!!!!!

And the difference is, those three were all late-game sequels to cash in on a successful franchise. This is the conclusion of a planned trilogy.
