Just now starting to read this week's books.
Holy shit, Avenging Spider-Man was great.
I'm really looking forward to this whole Omega Effect crossover arc.
Far, far moreso than AvX.
I've gone on record as saying that Hickman's Fantastic Four run has been my very favorite run on the book ever, even including Stan & Jack (though I admit to not yet having read Waid or Byrne's runs) and this weeks issue continues that trend, however, something that has been bugging me about it really stood out in this issue.
The art.
I mean no disrespect to the artist of this issue, but a run that is this good on the writing side of things just flat-out deserves better art than a lot of what it has had to-date.
The stuff with Eaglesham and Epting has been great, but the other artists to have worked on this (and the FF title) just haven't been matching the quality of the writing, in my opinion.
Legion Lost was prettyin'.
Lots of smashing and punching, some really nice Quitely-esque art and a couple of nice story beats.
Dunno how happy I am about this upcoming crossover, of which this issue is the prelude, especially given that it's with Teen Titans, but I'm digging Legion Lost enough to at least give it a shot.
And from the 'Not Even Remotely Surprising' file, we discover that Saga #2 rocks.
I'm still not 100% sold on the art, but I certainly don't dislike it.
Also, this issue read a little more like Ellis than BKV, (particularly the entire sequence with 'The Stalk') and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.
Rad stuff, can't wait for more.
It has been scattershot. This issue is by Ron Garney? I don't care for his art at all.![]()
But you're right - both titles have had too many fill-ins, and some art that just looks rushed. I do like Nick Dragotta's art, though he in particular looks rushed on FF and seems to be working in a different style for some reason.
