I wish being emotionally involved in things, did not so often lower our ability think and talk rationally about a subject.
There really is. No matter what took place down there, how events played out, it is crazy that this guy got to go home a couple hours after killing that kid based on the "Yeah, I did it, but it wasn't my fault. Promise. No crossies." defense.

That is what I fear is going to end up happening. The lack of a proper initial investigation is going to muddy the waters in regards to actual evidence and people's testimony now is tainted by hindsight and possible personal bias (in either direction). I can see this being thrown out on insufficient grounds and in my opinion, a guilty person will walk.
