Seems like it's simply now a way for you to see a general breakdown of how your character approaches situations, which is fine with me. It doesn't necessarily need to have a mechanical application.
As far as just making the options easier goes, I think what it comes down to is that if you have a system where filling a bar to certain points gets you stuff, then completely filling the bar needs to get you something in order to feel worthwhile. But then people who don't want to metagame to fill the bar will feel like they are missing out. It's more of a psychological thing, really.
That's pretty groovy. Did not know a lot of that stuff. Some of it's obvious in hindsight but it's pretty cool.
Anyway I think I'm going to wait to buy ME3. I could get the standard version at a store near my apartment tomorrow but I kind of want to see if I can find the Collector's edition anywhere before I buy any version. Buying a brand new game is already kind of pushing my budget so I figure if I'm going to get it at all near the release date I may as well go all the way and get the CE.

Guys, help me out here. Should I do the playthrough where I romanced Miranda, or the one where I stick with Ashley? I'm not sure which is better to start off with, story-wise.
I've been playing it for most of today and I just had my first major casualty.
