I didn't know that about Mary. It does explain the teleprompter speeches, though.
I haven't laughed so much in ages; it's nice to see a tribute that isn't nasty for a change.
I was surprised by some of the people that were absent though.
Just finished watching this, and thought it was really funny. And the part about her working all her life for animals was really touching.
Did anybody else watch it?
Also did anyone notice Mary Tyler Moore. I know she had brain surgery last year, and I worried if that would slow her down some. But she looked good.

They even kept the language clean, which seems to be different from the norm now at NBC. LOL
Yep, wouldn't want to offend Betty with any naughty words.
Lmmfao!
The great thing about Betty White's late career resurgence is that she actually deserves the attention.
I know the Golden Girls doesn't rate with most people, but the success with which she built her character there, in direct contrast to her portrayal of Sue Ann Nivens (one of the great supporting characters in TV history), is remarkable.

Not just The Golden Girls, BCM. Just the length of her career makes it deserving, to me anyway. She truly is such a treasure.
