To me, the show is starting to get infuriatingly bad. It's one step removed from a ridiculous Disney cartoon and while I know it's not a Fables TV show, I can't help but feel like they missed out on a GREAT opportunity.
The things that irk me are things that usually don't bother me. The mayor, for example, has just TOO MUCH power and is EVERYWHERE. And it seems like everyone is either at the diner or at the school, except for the kid who never seems to be in school. There are just too many things that, each week, annoy me. If it wasn't for a great performance every week from Mr. Gold I'd probably have stopped watching by now.

It is a Disney TV show. They're a little coy about it, but it absolutely is. One Disney-exclusive character has already appeared (Maleficent) and another is spoiled to appear in time for February sweeps. And I can see how that would grate on some people, but as a massive Disney geek, I'm loving it. If Chernabog is revealed to be the source of the Evil Queen's power and eventually shows up as the new big bad, I'll have a geek-gasm.
The Storybrooke segments, though, have their flaws, and all of them center around just how cartoonishly evil the Mayor is. But Mr. Gold and now Sidney Glass are really fascinating characters. It's irregular, but it works for me. I think there's a comparison to the better parts of Heroes - it's flawed, but there's more than enough to keep me excited.

Yeah, I think Jiminy and Maleficent are both Disney versions of classic Fairy Tale characters. I think the first truly Disney-exclusive character to show up will beSpoilers:
Gaston, from Beauty and the Beast. He's never appeared in any other version of the story.
That made me laugh too.![]()
