Except for the fact that a Gambit ongoing by an Image creator making his Marvel debut would be cancelled by the third page of the first issue. It would just switch to Deadpool vs. Wolverine three pages in.
Unless, of course, you had the marketing oomph and hype of a line-wide reboot behind it...

Not at all. It would be a true fresh start for new fans to jump on.
Especially if, unlike DC, most of their big creators seem to be wrapping up their runs and switching up. I think we might see fewer long-running runs preserved, which is a double-edged sword, but might help with new readers.

Reboot is what DC does because they historically have a mess of confusing continuity because the universe is not as cohesive as Marvel, and the many earths, Earth 2, them not existing one moment and then existing the next, and stuff like Hawkman as a character no one seems to understand.
