Marc, the interview was great. I loved your discussion of why people are turning to Image for their creator-owned projects. And that was a heck of a shout out for The Gathering as well I'm really hoping ImageExpo is a con I can get to next year.

If you're going to dress up, go the slacks and nice shirt route. A suit will make people think you're cosplaying from some random anime.

Yup. And full suits make you look out of place. Even a shirt/tie is a bit out of place but at least in a positive way.

I was thinking about Andrew's argument that the Oscars should nominate more successful movies, things that the public embraced. While I definitely don't want to see things like "Fast Five" nominated, I think you can make a case that there were several very successful movies this year that could have gotten the nod, especially over something like Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Super 8
Bridesmaids
Captain America: The First Avenger
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Rise of the Planet of the Apes

These are all movies that far exceeded expectations, did well at the box office, and got across-the-board positive reviews. I think the merits are there to say they should have been considered. Especially Super 8, which had a lot of interesting similarities to both Hugo and The Descendants, had some brilliant acting, and a very touching script that was incredibly atypical for a summer movie.

I really wish Deathly Hallows or Super 8 had got a nod

Makes me sad

Deathly Hallows was exceptionally done, but it sort of felt like half a movie (which I guess it was, literally). Rickman's performance definitely should have been considered, though.

Super 8 was just fantastic. Until December hit, it was my favorite movie of the year.
