Hot damn!

Considering how popular it was, I wonder if BBC America will snatch it up instead of PBS.

It doesn't really work that way. There are particualr rights issues involved because the BBC gets government funding from the Brits and BBC America and BBC proper are less synergistic than would seem logical. That's why BBC America runs so much crap (even though they have good stuff on there too).

I haven't been excited for a premiere of a show like this in a long time! Sherlock is fantastic and I cannot wait for more

I like this show, but I would like it more at 60 minutes instead of 90. The latter two episodes especially felt like they dragged on a bit.

Unlike a lot of the other Sherlock interpretations, not written by Doyle, this show did just about everything right with the characters, story telling and presentation. Even with the modernization, it seems to hold true to most of the Doyle cannon and only embellishes it (rather than giving Watson a signature choke-hold or poking fun at Sherlock's disguises.)

I can't believe, in the age of downloading, that someone thought this was a good idea. There'll be thousands of Americans and Canadians downloading every episode the second it airs in Europe.

Me neither.

It just makes no sense and I can only assume it is happening because of contracts that were in place before the first series aired.

I think it was a bit of a sleeper hit and no one expected the demand
