This weekend's treks included a short but so very sweet hike in the mountains east of San Juan Capistrano, along the Ortega Highway. Very rugged canyons and steep mountainsides hide oak forests and riparian environments that are fairly rare in Southern California.

Dinner that evening was at Murphy's in Prescott, AZ. An icy martini and grilled salmon was the payoff for the long day in the open sky.
