I'm pretty excited for this, too. I was reading New Defenders back in the day (early '80s?) and loved it. Especially Val. *sigh*

If I swung that way, I'd totally make out with Doctor Strange. He's one of my favorite under-appreciated characters. And he's looking might fit these days for an old wizard. Plus, he rarely has to practice back palming a playing card like us mere mortal charlatans.

What's really exciting about this for me is that I read almost nothing from the old Defenders books. This will be new material for me.

Heh. I don't "swing that way" either, but I'd still make out with Val regardless. She's one of my favourite characters. Considering what a good job Kelly Sue made of Sif, I'd love to see her tackle Valkyrie.

It'll be cool to have somewhere to discuss Fraction's Defenders stuff - looking forward to seeing what we both think of it!

Agreed. My initial reaction to the cover art was one of delight. For instance, I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but Strange's mystic hand gesture looks suspiciously like he's making a dog shadow puppet. I am detecting a bit of Doom Patrol vibe mixed in with this venture. I should also see if Ruby Berserko ever used that particular hand jive. She's been known to use others.

This may be a stretch, but the gathering of powerful but slightly odd super misfits reminds me a bit of DP. It will also be interesting to see who pops in now and again to help this loosely organized rigtheous band.
