My co-author and I are looking for an artist that can draw realistic characters for a comic book that we plan to get published. We are looking for an artist in NYC or Long Island area. If interested please send us some examples of your art. Please email us at Extras2124@gmail.com
If you are interested, here is a rough draft of our synopsis...I hope to get emails soon.
There is a lot about The Extras that separate it from other superhero stories. This story doesn’t focus on over elaborate costumes, fantastic gadgets or even the last son of an annihilated planet fighting crime in his red undies. It is, most importantly, a character and story based comic. These are deeply flawed, realistic characters without any discernible, clear-cut path. They constantly struggle between the allure of the light and the temptation of the dark while developing their unique abilities. It is about the development of each character and the influence their powers have on their daily lives.
The main characters of this comic are simple teenagers. They are developing these incredible new gifts while attempting to balance the every day life of the pubescent teenager. As teens you come to be described by what group you belong to. These characters come from different cliques to from one very special new group: The Extras. The first story arc (five issues) explores the origins of six teenagers and the manifestation of their powers. Several themes that are explored throughout the series are loyalty and betrayal, secrets and honesty and good vs. evil. Once upon a time, these characters’ biggest fears were waking up with pimples on their face or being rejected by their crush. But now they must choose whether they want to use these extraordinary abilities to better the world and the lives of others or selfishly exploit the use of their talents.
