This guy is a stranger so you have no idea how he'll react if you ask him out. Canadians are known for never wanting to offend anyone, unless they playing hockey a startling transformation that, anyway you have no idea how he will react as you don't know him. Keep that in mind and keep in mind that there are men out there who will preceve another guy asking them out as an assult and react in what they preceve to be self-defense.
I think Rev's advice nailed it. Filrt with the guy. If he is intrested he will filrt back, if not he will think you are just being friendly.
Once again your ability to pick up manly men amazes me oh disco diva one. Come! Tell us the tale of how you turned down the construction worker from the village people.
I myself am pretty sure that most people are more interested then me in front end part of the the baby assembly line, even when no babies can actually be made.
I have a good friend (who is a straight woman) who always assumes everyone she meets is a lesbian until proven otherwise. I thought she was a lesbian when I first met her. She even referred to her husband as her partner.

I'm socially inept, so the idea of inviting someone out to a one on one encounter freaks my shit out. When meeting new people I'm more likely to invite them to group functions. Either that or I make a general invitation to "Hang out whenever." I dunno.
I'm horrible at meeting new people so I tend to not invite people out for anything and I rarely accept invitations to do stuff. People creep me out, man. *shudder*
