When I saw "Green Lantern" and "girlfriend" in the thread title I started thinking of fridging!
Hey all,
So I've been dating this girl for a little while and she really has found my love of comics really interesting, especially my love of Green Lantern. I tried explaining the back story but it definitely didn't sound as exciting as it does in the comics. What GL trades do you think would be a good starting place for her? I was thinking either giving her Green Lantern: Rebirth or Secret Origins. Rebirth has the scope and all the characters I love but since she knows nothing about comics I thought it may be too continuity heavy.
Part of me really wants to have her read Green Lantern: a new dawn since Kyle rayner is what got me into Green lantern in the first place but with the movie coming out and everything i didn't want to confuse her.
What do you guys think? Any green lantern tales you would recommend for the uninitiated?
Thanks!

There is a trade out that reprints "classic stories" for Hal, John, Kyle and Guy.
It does a nice job of laying out the idea of there being four earth Lanterns while at the same time highlighting what is unique and great about each of them.
The thing that got me into Green Lantern was the Sinestro Corps War, although that requires some knowledge of Crisis on Infinite Earths that may befuddle the dramatic impact of some parts. So in this case I think Secret Origin might be the way to go.
so she found secret origins intriguing. What comic do you think I should give her next? What is the next green lantern comic that would be the natural progression? Do you think I should give her a non GL comic to show her what comics can really be?
This might sound like a totally radical idea, but how about asking her what she's interested in and basing your suggestions on that? I mean, we could suggest dozens of potential books, but since we really know nothing about her or what she likes, they're all more or less shots in the dark.
I'm probably alone on this, but Secret Origin. Even without some of the backstory, I think it's a really good setup for the premise and really entertaining.
