I liked it, I guess.
The scene with Misfit and Steph was funny, but the little offhanded dismissal of Cass (AGAIN) REALLY annoyed me. Apparently her relationship with Oracle means nothing when confronted with the apparent "burden" that knowledge of her survival would put on her.![]()
Spoiler-ish I guess-
***
So I'm glad Oracle is going back into the shadows. I've been saying it for awhile. She needs to be a secret.
But I feel like I'm missing something… and I wasn't super happy with this issue (and death of oracle arc) in general.
In theory, the story concept and what transpires doesn't bother me. But, what I actually read and saw… I didn't really like- (and I'm not going to even mention the art, cuz I know that's changing…)
I felt rushed, unfulfilled and didn't really leave with much of a resolution or any type of "answers" for that matter.
Maybe that was the point?
I'm glad Misfit is "back" but I am curious about why she got included…
And what is Cass really dealing with exactly? Everyone just keeps "dying" but not really, no wonder she's having a hard time.
And, from the solisitation (which I know aren't exactly trustworthy, but) "All this, plus a fan-favorite operative works with the Birds for the first time ever!" Who was that exactly? Everyone in this issue has been around before…
Lastly, I was unhappy with the kinda rude attitude Canary and Huntress had with Catwoman.
Overall it was okay. Do I hate it, no. Does it set up for a new procedure the way the hero community and even the Birds work, yes. I want to see how this really ripples outward. But Im still left a bit- flat.![]()

Wait...no one said Cass can't know Babs is alive.
She's just not on the Oracle tower list.
Am I missing something?
Oh okay, now I feel dumb.
I totally just assumed that the Birds and the group at the secret tower meeting were the only people who'd officially "know" Oracle was still actually around.

Yeah, again, I am a little confused.
People keep saying this Tower thing is a privilege and that she's not "allowed" there. But Babs is VERY SPECIFIC and says it's actually a burden, a burden she doesn't want to yoke onto Cass at this exact moment.
That makes sense to me. Cass is in flux, Babs is trying to give her some space.
On the other hand, I'll be blunt. I wanted to use Cass in Bop. I would love to have her join. She's one of the very, very few characters I would like to add to an already large cast (she, Vixen, and the Question are probably the totality of that list). At one point, we thought that was going to happen, but it couldn't happen at the time of launch for various reasons.
So, I may have jumped the gun and hinted it, and then Cass became unavailable to us for right now. This happens all the time. It USUALLY means the character is going to get a spotlight somewhere else...I hope that's the case as I have become a huge Cass fan and her getting her own book or a mini, or even an important guest shot in a Grant Morrison book (none of which are actual things I know, just things I'd like to see happen) could do more for her profile than even joining the birds. So it's a situation where the best thing for the character might not be in my books, though I dearly love her.
But I will keep asking, and the moment she becomes available, you can bet your ass she'll be in BOP. That's a promise.
Okay, so Cass CAN know that Oracle is alive but isn't allowed in the tower? Is that right? What if she's outside just like... knocking on the theoretical door? I mean that in itself is just theoretical but, whatever. I was also thinking that the list was basically a list of people who could know Oracle is still alive.
Also, this may have been my favorite part of the issue
Nice to see that face! (kinda)
I can´t wait to read the comic! I liked the preview, and I am dying of curiousity
And about Cass, well, I understand that because of editorial mandates, is still not available. I am sure about this, Gail will write her beautifully when she´ll get the green flag!
And I also had the impression, after reading Bop and Secret Six, that Gail´s scripts are like Agatha Christie´s books...impredicatble! I never got to guess who the real murderer was until the last page XD
