But...I'm a diabetic who is allergic to peanuts.
I was hoping not to post any thread like this but here I am because it seems there's a trend to want to fight here lately.
So, basically, the one rule we have here is "don't be a dick."
Obviously, this allows for some discretion on my part but it also assumes that the people here are adults and can discuss things in a reasonable fashion without having a Mom with stompy boots around to get them to behave. (Oh, yes, I haz them. Along with a basball cap adorned with the word "bitch.")
I realize this is a dangerous assumption on the internet but I think you guys are up to the challenge.
But since this is becoming a problem now and because people might not have seen my posts in other threads which are becoming problems, here are what I like to call "guidelines" for posters. Not rules but things to keep in mind when posting.
1. If there's someone seriously misbehaving on the thread and you think a post is out of line, use the "report post" button and one of the mods will look into it.
In the meantime, please *avoid* responding to the post or poster causing the problem. If you all get into a fight when I'm not around, all I will see is a bunch of people losing their tempers and I likely won't be able to sort out where things went to hell.
And then I'll be pissed at everybody. Which is no fun for anyone.
2. When you think you've been insulted by a post, try assuming the other person *did not mean* to insult you.
I know that's not always easy but unless it's an outright insult "dick, asshole, poopie-head," sometimes the other person's intention is not derogatory.
In that case, try saying something like "I'm interpreting your post as an insult toward me. Perhaps that's not the way you meant it?"
This is a board with people of various ages, genders, backgrounds, and worldviews. I love that about it. I adore you guys. I love hanging out here. I want you guys to enjoy hanging out here too.
But that means it requires a little effort on your part to be a part of the community. Part of that is weighing your words before you post. Words have impact.
In other words, don't be a dick.
Now, peanut butter M&Ms for everyone!
