My all time favorite is probably ALIEN adapted by Walt Simonson, one of the few people in the industry I think capable of both the mundane and outrageous aspects of that film.
If you ever see the original print of this, BUY it, it's actually as good as the movie!

I really liked the Terminator adaptations inthe early 90s. I think those were from Dark Horse.
I also loved the Marvel Star Wars Comics.

The original Aliens vs Predators mini series by Dark Horse is still better then anything that they've done in the movies.

Conan and other REH creations.
The Bruce Jones/Al Williamson adaptation of FLASH GORDON is better than the movie -- keeps all the visual spectacle, but removes a lot of the self-conscious silliness.
David Mazzuchelli's adaptation of Paul Auster's CITY OF GLASS is pretty awesome.
P. Craig Russell's opera adaptations are all terrific. I especially like SALOME.

I like the Dark Horse earlier Star Wars comics from the 90's like Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. And the Mara Jade Mini they did. But after George screwed up everything by rewriting canon, I stopped paying attention to the Star Wars Comics.
