    so, is byrne's ff omnibus worth it? are the stories really good, and do they compensate for his terribly flowery and stilted/unnatural dialogue?

    The stories are pretty great, high concept stuff that holds up really well. The exposition makes my eyes heavy after about three issues. So, yeah, it's worth it overall.
