I wonder what we all would come up with for our personal lists

Everyone hating on Cloverfield is a terrible person. Still the best American monster movie of the decade.

The rest of these I still haven't seen (The Descent, 28 Days Later, and The Mist are all pretty high on my "to watch" list), but I'm pretty sure Drag Me To Hell is supposed to be a satire

Although I've always been more interested in monster movies and anthologies on the whole when it comes to horror. I also have a hard time getting upset about lists. I don't fit in on the internet in that regard.

Yes, "Drag Me To Hell" is supposed to be satire. It's Sam Raimi for crying out loud. And it's AWESOME!

I do need to see "The Mist" though.

I've only seen about half the original list, but of them would only put "28 Days Later" on my favorites list beyond this decade.

Earlier ones which I adore -

"The Haunting of Hill House", a black-and-white from the 50s or 60s.
    "The Shining" (Kubrick version)
"Frailty" (the Bill Paxton/Michael McConaughey one)
    "Donnie Darko"
"The Ruling Class" ("My name is Jack! My name is Jack!")

Thumbs up Re: Chiller 13: The Decade's Scariest Movie Moments

    chiller 13 scariest movie moments:

ok so im a little upset on how people are rating some of these movies for example:

hostel i thought was a great movie because of the fact that it scares me because no one really knows the truth, there really can be people paying to torture people. Saw trilogy i also found to be a good one because of the concept and story behind the movies. it just makes me mad that these movies are considered torture porn because of the sick bastards who get off on watching them. i love horror movies and gory movies as well also cult classics. but there is also some movies i dont have the stomach to watch such as the hills have eyes movies or any movies and that have extreme rape scenes in it. but i dont think that good movies such as hostel 1 and 2 or the saw movies should get a bad rep because of sick people out there who get off on it. i am a fear junkie i love the rush from getting scared it somthing i have always liked but i also watch other genres other then horror , horror just happens to be my favorite. i did not like cloverfield i thought it was boring , drag me to hell was very enjoyable , the orphan was creepy, and for the movie the stranger wow scared the hell out of me because of the fact that no one ever really safe even in there own homes. i would love to hear other peoples comments on this thread.

As I understand it, "torture porn" doesn't imply something designed to be sexually gratifying. It's "porn" in the sense that the graphic violence is portrayed in loving detail/close-up/slow-motion/from several angles, etc. In other words, it's presentation is similar to that of pornography. There's a parallel concept called "food porn"--when the preparation and display of food in cooking shows or in magazines is presented using the same techniques.

Frailty is great, and really underseen. And I love The Ruling Class, though even though it has undeniably creepy moments, I wouldn't put it on this list.

I just saw Feast a couple of nights ago, and it was gory, tremendous fun.

It pisses me off that Let Me In/Let the Right One In didn't make the list. Okay, perhaps they weren't really scary. They're more young teen romance films. But Abby/Eli going hog wild is a pretty shocking thing the first time you see it, and both movies are just incredibly well crafted, based on a truly affecting story by the great John Ajvide Lindqvist.
