"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and to bid defiance to the laws of our country." --Thomas Jefferson

Ain't nothing but some sea s**t. Full of yourself so you float to the top. A human hot air balloon that I'm hopin' to pop, my sharp wit verse, your really dull animal.
Your cynicism really isn't hard for you to channel so ... it's effortless. You're better than the rest of us, I get it, I admit. Why you even waste your breath on us?
You can pick ONE in the following categories:
Some of my Marvel is a trifle out of date, but here goes.
Favorite Marvel MALE:
If I have to pick one, it would have to be Nightcrawler as he was just plain fun.
Favorite Marvel FEMALE:
Storm
Favorite DC MALE:
Green Lantern for a long time running.
Favorite DC FEMALE:
Duela 'The Harlequin' Dent, she's the character that got me into DC comics.
Favorite MALE, any other comics company:
The Shadow
Favorite FEMALE, any other comics company:
The Ghost from Dark Horse.
this is really hard, but here goes:
Favorite Marvel MALE: Hercules.
this is almost entirely due to Incredible Hercules. it really fleshed out his character as more than just a goofy man-boy; even (particularly?) with his "death," and the revelation of all his charitable activities outside the spotlight. almost went with Pete Wisdom, but so little has been done with him recently.
Favorite Marvel FEMALE: Ultimate Mary Jane Watson
she's got most of the good characteristics of the Lee/Romita MJ, but without the "party girl" stigma. far preferable to the 616 character of the past ten years or so. this was a hard choice, though. so many fun females in the Marvel line-up right now!
Favorite DC MALE: Jack Knight.
i wanted to confine my choices to currently active characters, but: Jack Knight is one of the greatest characters ever. period. the way Robinson created him (and Opal around him) to effortlessly mesh with the DCU as a whole? brilliant. the way a legacy character should be treated. Tommy Monaghan would be the runner up, if there was a choice.
Favorite DC FEMALE: Diana of Themyscira.
not because i really like where the character is now, or where she is going. but Diana has the most untapped potential of any character, male or female, in the DCU. her pop culture celebrity, if combined with a writer who could find a voice for her (away from editorial mandate), could result in a great character. second choice would be Kate Kane (and was almost first), but she's so new (and so tied to the creative team) that it's hard to say how i'll feel about her in a month's time.
Favorite MALE, any other comics company: Kid-With-Knife.
the only "normal" character in Gillen and McKelvie's Phonogram: Rue Brittania, Kid-With-Knife is a sort of Everyman figure. assuming Everyman was a hoodie-wearing Ned with a hip-hop fetish. but his self discovery in the close of the second volume, The Singles Club, is something of an example of why comics can matter.
Favorite FEMALE, any other comics company: Cassie Hack.
so insanely far from a Buffy rip-off, but she still can't escape the comparison. while Buffy wants to be "normal" and does all she can to fake it, Cassie has accepted that she isn't normal (for all that she has no superpowers, just a screwed-up childhood and ugly man-mountain sidekick). this was the single hardest category to make a choice in; Lady Mechanika (only 2 issues in, and she's awesome), Tarot (stop laughing), Tara Mehta (from Virgin Comics' Devi), and Lucifer (from Boom! Studios' Hexed) all made my shortlist.
