Just saw this on a toy forum and thought of posting it here.. but glad to see someone already did.
Okay, BIG news.
Hopefully I can edit the title.
Anyway. This is ALL thanks to Domu from the Fwoosh forum. Thanks for your diligence, mate.

With San Diego just around the corner, I think it's a good time to remember that Geoff Beckett and Shocker Toys are always on the lookout for new people to scam.

''I am a small toy company in the NJ area. We produce action figures and licensed products for kids and older collectors. We are seeking fresh minded investors who would like to not only fund projects but also to be part of the process and contribute ideas. The toy industry is very different from your standard business but offers a great growth potential with brand building and license tie-ins with major movies and books. If you are an investor interested in a great new opportunity please feel free to contact us.

It looks like Geoff Beckett is also trying to transition away from the name Shocker Toys to GBJRToys.
He has recently changed his facebook and linkedin pages, showing the change.
https://www.facebook.com/gbjrtoys
http://www.linkedin.com/in/shockertoys
He appears to be trying to set up a web site for his "new" company as well:
www.gbjrtoys.com
He registered the domain name on 5/23:
.COM Domains Registered on 2012-05-23
What does this mean for all the people still owed product and money from Shocker Toys? Nothing seems to indicate that this is a change in anything other than name only. My guess would be that it's probably even less likely that Geoff will ever deliver on any old product, as he has already set his sights on new targets.

I disagree with his last paragraph. I would not be surprised to see Beckett try and use the name change as leverage against customers still owed by Shocker Toys.
I guess we'll see.

That's the new logo for the 'new' company GBJR Toys: Geoff Beckett Junior Toys.
Aka Same shit as before, just with some new victims.
I have no idea what the transition will be, or if there'll even be one.
It's easy to guess though.
How would a scammer do it?
There's your answer.

So, GBJR Toys has announced that it will be handling the rerelease of the Shocker Toys Maxx figure.
"GBJRTOYS will be releasing the re-release of the Maxx. We will be filling the reached limit shocker orders and selling an additional 400pcs. You can order through the shocker domain store below as GBJRTOYS now owns the domain and store. The new GBJRTOYS site will be live next month with new forums and news."
This looks incredibly bad, and could leave potentially hundreds of customers out of money (even more than they are now), and a further attempt to get shrug off Shoker's debts.
It looks like action will be needed soon, I'd wager.

ShockerToys
We are filling orders that were placed with shocker. We are not handling refunds or exchanges from the shocker company. All orders are being filled through good faith at our expense. If you have any requests you can post your toy ideas here on our Facebook. All products that were solicited by shocker will be shipping soon but there are some legal issues we need to work our before that happens. Again we will be filling all previous orders with shocker. If something is unavailable due to a licensing issue we will be glad to replace it with a different figure at our expense.''
Yep.
It's finally happened.
This is bad, even by Beckett standards.

About three items down in this discussionl Geoff Beckett says "we are not part of shocker but bought their assets and will be releasing the indie figures soon." Coupling that with his statement about no refunds, etc, I take that to mean he's somehow acquired the assets of the company but is disclaiming the responsibilities.

So one of the plus Mallow KS rewards is a Grendel Mallow.
Is that legal?
Geoff seems to be relying on the old contracts, but they were with Shocker Toys, not GBJR Toys. That license doesn't carry over.
Sure, it's leftover stock, but it's still being used by a company that (as far as we know) doesn't have the Grendel rights, and is being used to support a different project anyway.
*I'm posting this now as there's only 17 hours left to go. I didn't want to inadvertently promote the bastards latest attempt to scam a new crowd.

I am not a lawyer, but will happily disagree with you on both points. Without knowing the specifics of the contracts involved, it's not possible to say if the licences were transferrable, unilaterally revokable, void upon change of ownership, whatever.
As for leftover stock, retail sale is retail sale. Assuming the creator was paid the appropriate licensing fee by the manufacturer, anybody can buy and sell.
The ones I saw made no mention of transfer, IIRC. In which case, it's void.
And as it's with a company, I don't believe you can include transferrability. This isn't a name change. This isn't being bought out. This is it being given to a completely new company that is still claiming ownership. That would require a new contract and terms. (Assuming Wagner has re-signed with Shocker)
Beckett is trying to play it to his advantage, but it cuts both ways.
I also don't know if this is counts as retail. They're being used as a promotional tool for free, for an unrelated line. What royalty would Wagner receive from that, as there's no sale amount?
I don't know the answers, just musing on possibilities.
