I assumed it was limbo, and that was his spirit trapped there, not good enough for heaven but not evil enough for hell.

He was a great character, and the issue where he did his heel turn and death is one of my favorite single issues of all time.

Oh, yeah, I know. I didn't even bother to list Bruce, Steve, and Barry, because let's face it - those are done deals for now. Apologies to Wally, but it's true. And you can't get rid of Steve or Bruce, even if they're not in the lead role at that moment.
