I don't hope they fail but I hope they learn that it's better to put out a working game and get good word of mouth than rely on a bunch of patches in the first few months of release.

    I loved 12.

I thought the Psuedo-MMO implementation was done great.

and was disappointed when 13 went back to instanced battles.

I've still to complete that, though the level cap in between chapters makes most battles challenging, the constant paradigm shifts can get a bit grating.

    still nothing beats 6.

I lost interest in the Final Fantasy games years ago. It seemed like they kept on drastically changing how the game was played and I got tired of it.

    What does this even mean?

Ff7 had a great powering up system. You put a crystal in a weapon, use the weapon a lot, gain that power. Perfect! Then I think 8 or 9 came out an there was some fucking map you threw shit on and you became that class or something and you couldn't really go back? Bleh. That's fine if the game is 10 hours long, I'll play through it a few times to switch up how a character shapes up, but the shit was 50-80 hours, I'm playing through once and then I'm done.

That doesn't sound like 8 or 9. 8 had the system where you drew spells out of enemies and then slotted them in guardians for ability boosts. 9 was the one where you learned abilities through using equipment. 10 had the sphere grid, if that's what you're thinking about.

Since Final Fantasy made the jump to PS2 and PS3 there hasn't been a really great game in the series.
I will never forget the great times I had with FF6-9 but since then every single character in the series looks like they are straight out of a J-pop-band, there's no big world map anymore where I can walk around freely and discover cool side quests, etc.
Remember that chocobo training and breeding in 7? Or the awesome card game in 9? Today they don't do stuff like that anymore just to reach the casual gamer market.

Um, that sounds like FF9 FF10 and FF12...
