    Wizard World Atlanta comic con

Hey, anyone planning on going to Wizard World Atlanta in December?

They have a nice guest list right now:
Mike Grell (always wanted to meet him!)
    Greg Horn
    Ethan VanSciver
    Art Suydam
    Michael Golden
    Steve Scott

Some cool celbs: Billy Dee Williams, Adam West, Burt Ward, Mimi Rogers, Pam Grier, Richard Roundtree, Fred Williamson, Ernie Hudson, Walter Koenig, Human Centipede actors, Leah Gibson, lots of wrestlers.

But today they just changed it from a 3 day con to a 2 day con???? And they are only dropping the price by $5 for loosing a whole day???

Wonder what it means for Atlanta cons?

Well, Wizard starting adding more guests finally!!
We have Cameron Stewart, Tony Harris, Humberto Ramos
and local greats Craig Hamilton & Tony Shasteen.
At least they are still adding guests to Atlanta even though they took a day away.
Really looking forward to seeing Cameron Stewart, never met him.
Also great to see Tony Harris. He hasn't done as many Atlanta cons over the last few years.

I don't think it means anything for Atlanta cons. I think it may mean something for Wizard cons.
Why do you still have signatures turned on?

Those of us here in Atlanta know how difficult it has been for new cons to get started here. A few years ago, DragonCon organizers tried to put on a pretty good, smaller con here called ACE (Atlanta Comics Expo). A fraction of the size of DragonCon, good guest list, lots of dealers... then year 2 went to 3 days. They only had 3 or 4 new guests that year. A lot less guests & dealers. Hardly anyone showed up. A year later, we saw Atlanta Supercon here put on by the same people who do Florida Supercon. It was cool, nice guest list, but attendance was even worse than ACE. Now we get Wizard. I thought it looked really bad seeing it go from 3 to 2 days. But they are still adding new guests. They say they have over 90 comic guests alone, and they just added Bill Sienkiewicz. So this could be the best thing we've had here in Atlanta in addition to DragonCon. But yeah, I'd say if you can only do one Atlanta con, nothing can compete with DragonCon. It's just nice that we have something else.

Dragon isn't a comic show by far-- but just the notion that VERY few Atlanta-based creators are listed as guests should be some indication here. For those that don't know, Atlanta is one of the biggest hubs of comic creators ANYWHERE, and many A-list talents. It's unfortunate not to see them taking part at all... or even APPROACHED to do so.

I have been impressed with how many local comic talent they added in the last few weeks. It is great to see Jolly Roger doing an Atlanta con again. Haven't seen them in the area since the old Atlanta ComicCon out in Gwinnett a long time ago. They added Gaijin Studios as well. I've also noticed that many guests listed live in or around Atlanta too. But I know what you mean Jeremy. There are many glaring omissions as well. Hopefully, Wizard will keep moving in the right direction of asking as many local writers & artists that they can. Since I can't afford to leave Atlanta, DragonCon & Wizard Atlanta are all I'm able to get to.

I see you're on the guest list for Wizard Atlanta now Jeremy! The con is shaping up. Definitely see more big name Atlanta guests going up. Still without Adam Hughes, Dexter Vines, Jason Pearson, & Paul Jenkins. But they've been adding more guests every week.

i went to ACE a couple of years when I lived in LaGrange with some buddies of mine.

But be fortunate. Denver literally has no comic conventions at all. Be fortunate you have a strong geek community with Dragon Con.

Wizard contacted a lot of the local talent here and reached out with invites, so there are a lot more guys added, yeah. Here's hoping for a great show!
