I sincerely doubt a community center near Ground Zero is going to threaten our survival in any way.

Might even be helpful, showing that America honors it's promise to accept others. There's something to be said for not confirming the worst opinions about us.

Then, might I suggest, reading closer. That claim came right after this claim, "You know fuck-all. That Master's Degree isn't worth the paper it's printed on." Which is explicit about the utter lack of worth your alleged degree has. Put them together and you get a very sardonic take on your dubious claim.

I don't see why, many people here and back on CBR have masters and doctorate degrees, and many are working on getting those degrees.

It's obvious this your experience. This is completely not universal. Back to my previous point, the difference between those people and you is that those people show their degrees. When the fields they have those degrees in come up, they show up with in depth, nuanced and varied knowledge.

If you want people to believe you have a degree, it is best to not give them reason to doubt it.

It is quite doubtful you have more than a passing amateur's familiarity with history.

Do you often run into scams involving fraudulent claims of being a teacher.

I guess my plain to trick you into giving me your social security number won't work now that you know I am not a teacher at all but just some vile grifter making my living impersonating one.

    Darn it!

Please, do not attempt this distraction again. Your argument holds no water, and this is clear from your utter inability to respond to challenges to it.

OK well I am not sure there is much left to say. This thread has gone off in an unexpected direction. I am going to downstairs and pretend to grade papers in order to maintain the illusion of being a teacher.

I am not a grammar nazi, but I really hope you don't grade on grammar or spelling. Otherwise my guess is you are putting out some seriously inflated grades.

    Yes, yes I do.

Over the course of arguing on the internet I've run into two (or possibly three) people claiming to be lawyers, someone claiming to be a rock star, someone claiming to be a rap star/actor, an investigative journalist, an investment banker, an economist and yes, a history professor. That's just off the top of my head. In all those cases it was ultimately proven to be nothing more than lies in order to give a poor argument the veneer of authority.

If someone makes a claim to their education, job, or any other aspect of their life over the internet I believe them until they show a lack of basic knowledge of the subject matter they supposedly have expertise in.

Are you serious? I always have a hard time telling if people are joking or really mean it when they say things like that. Its the mixture of disdain and moral certitude that throws me. It does not seem rational.

How was I "distracting" you. What were you being 'distracted' from? Why didn't you just ignore my posts? Why would my posts drive you and others to such anger?

I don't expect an answer but these are things I think about.

I never said I was smart. I said I have a Masters and was a teacher. Two relatively innocuous claims. Here is a web site I created to maintain the illusion and keep the scam running.

Congratulations, you caught me. I wondered when the first one would appear. It took three days.

Seriously though. You are right. I should be more careful. Its not my grammar that's bad, its my typing and self correction skills. As soon as I read my posted posts I see the errors and am duly embarrassed. I should slow down and be more careful. Your obviouly genuine concern for my students is noted.

In a funny story no less that Peter David once jumped all over me for using 'your' instead of 'you're' back on the old AOL boards. He banned me from his board but not for that reason. It was my first banning.
