As people post the reviews, I will add your name and score to a list in the main post and at the end of the week average the scores for an overall grade on the book. We grade on a scale of 0-10, the meanings of which roughly translate to:

10 - Everything I want in a comic, an instant classic
9 - Excellent, a nearly perfect read
8 - Highly recommended but it has minor flaws
7 - Very good, it does have some problems
6 - Above average but has deep flaws
5 - An average comic
4 - Below average, the flaws outweigh the good
3 - A disappointing comic
2 - Forgettable, a waste of time
1 - Stay away!! One of the worst comics I've read

Here's a copy of my review from Bought/Thought.

The art is very interesting. Pasarin has a much more Gleasonish style here which handles the over-the-top action and of course Guy himself skillfully. Tomasi himself gives a compelling reason for why Guy should get his own ongoing and the seeds of his separation from the GLC. Some great hooks are made with the other Corps members and Atrocious who plays a role. Definitely should be gotten and it looks like it'll play a big role in the future of the GL line. Tomasi and Pasarin finally gives us the Guy Gardener ongoing we deserve.

Never been a huge Guy Gardner fan. He'd probably rank around 2000th in top Lanterns. Hate the costume. Hate the hair. Hate the smugness and as a long time comic reader I will never forget Warrior. But I enjoy Tomasi's writing and the art looked very good. I think the idea of exploring deeper space that's been uncharted is kind of cool and allows for the opportunity to come up with some new aliens and characters. And I am pretty intrigued by this deal that Guy, Ganthet and Atrocitus made even though we're still kept in the dark pretty much. Also interesting to see that

Before Green Lantern Corps I did not care for Guy Gardner. But Peter Tomasi made him such a good character in GLC that I just fell in love. When it was announced that Tomasi was leaving GLC and Gardner would also leave the book I was sad. But then this book was announced and I knew it was going to be great. I don't know how long this book can go on for, I think it should have been a mini series but we'll see how it goes. For first issues, this is a great one. I'm hooked.

A solid first issue. I have very little to say other than I was incredibly happy with the start to the story. I've been wondering for ages what this whole deal is between Ganthet and Atrocitus, and since the Red Lanterns are my favourite Corps, anything that shows more of them pleases me.

I wasn't overly fond of the almost "EEEEEEEEEEEEVIL!" like portrayal of Atrocitus though. And the fact that we seem to be getting a story set up about Sodding Twat (or whateverthefuck his name is) isn't exactly pleasing to me either. There is no character in the entire Green Lantern history that I loathe more than that useless twat.

Other than those slight quibbles, I'd have to give this a 9 for a strong start.

I give it a 3. The cheese factor was SO high... the stupid comments.. failure to communicate, big green stick.. a space motorcycle made out of willpower? No thanks. Already dropped.
