Hi folks, and especially friends of Jae-Jae!
As you know, she's plunged herself into the intensive work of Job Corps training, which includes unplugging her from the net for large periods of time. I "volunteered" (and if you know Jae, you know she's pretty much irresistable when she enthusiastically wants you to volunteer --) to be her contact point with at least some of her internet friends.
I had a call from her recently, and yes, she still talks a mile a minute or faster. It was just after Comic Con and she woke me from an evening nap and was talking so fast that my brain couldn't even process her self-identification for a bit. Heh. Then this weekend, I got snail mail from her as well -- much of it covering the same territory as her phone conversation, which is an indication of just how boring the non-class-time is for her. She really could use some diversions (oh, and snacks).
She has requested some reading materials, in particular the following:
The Great Gatsby
Cannery Row
In the Time of butterflies
Jame Eyre
(plays)
The Merchant of Venice
The Glass Menagerie
Death of a Salesman
And other books and reading material.
If you can, please snag one of these titles or something similar and pop it into snail mail to her. Heck, even WRITE (gasp) a snail mail letter and send it, I'm sure it would amuse her to get letters. Maybe concoct a serial story that she gets in installments. Remember she is almost entirely unplugged at present and so has nothing to surf for diversion.
Please remember that all mail is scanned (even searched, I think) and package accordingly. No illegal substances, please.
Here's her address (again, if you didn't copy it before in previous announcements):
Jessica Gonzales
Gary Job Corps Community
RH 5 RM 211
2800 Airport Hwy 21
P.O. Box 967
San Marcos, TX 78667
Send her bright colorful things, guys. Thanks.
Edit to add: She is doing WELL, by the way, and is considered the smartest in her classes. No surprise there. But there's only so much pool playing she can do, or walking in the Texas heat.
