Josh was supposed to be a one-time character, just someone so obnoxious that people wanted to kill him.

Amazingly, he became a hit, we got a TON of mail for him to return. I THINK, but I can't say for certain, that people liked a clueless geeky guy who lacked the sense to not be obnoxious to a fully-armed Huntress.

He's fun to write, but I want to throttle him myself, sometimes.

He got huge responses from both men and women. Interestingly, my editor at the time, an openly gay woman, HATED Josh and dreaded every time we brought him back. I think she felt it devalued Huntress, or maybe it was just a visceral thing.

Well, that was around the point that Gail was having to build Helena up, showing that she made bad decisions in several areas of her life, so I kind of viewed her sleeping with Josh as one more at that point. Notice that later, Huntress tells him that the sex pretty much put her off it entirely, and that he really could be a nice guy if he dropped the BS fratboy behaviour. I think that showed how much she'd grown in just that small amount of time.

Gail - was "lesbian editor lady" Lysa Hawkins? Just curious!
